How should I prepare my house before selling it?
First impressions matter. This is true in life, in business, and especially in real estate. Buyer home decisions are often based on emotions so…
Think about your senses:
How does your house look?
Even without staging, each room should be tidy, decluttered, and clean, without major damage in sight.
How does your house smell?
You don’t want your home to smell like last night’s dinner, or smoke, or pets… it really does make a difference.
How does it sound?
I’ve had clients love it when there’s light music playing. lol Or when a pool has a water feature, and its running, so calming.
How does it feel?
You want potential buyers to feel like they could live in your home. It should feel cozy, and inviting, and even the right temperature…. now’s not the time to turn off the AC or heat or lights! lol
Also, consider that every potential buyer and their agent walking through your house, or even touring it virtually, will be looking for ways to pass or negotiate down on the price. Make sure that the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical system all work properly.
